"Behind the Veil"

Today, my Mom and I attended the "Behind the Veil" bridal show at the Telfair Museum in Savannah, GA.  I have been anxiously awaiting this show due to reading the reviews of last years show.

Once in Savannah, we located the beautiful Telfair Museum and found a great parking spot!  *my heels thanked me*  Upon entering to the venue, we were greeted by event volunteers.  We signed in and received our "swag bags" and proceeded to meet the vendors.

The layout and display of the show was simply beautiful!  Floral arrangements filled almost every corner and the vendors did not hold back on the giveaways and decor.  Many of the food vendors brought the 'best of the best' to sample.  And the icing on the top of the cake...part deux of the show was held in the adjacent building!  We made our rounds through the first building, then proceeded to the next one (a short walk across the street.)

Again, we were met by a wonderful layout of vendors and decor.  The days events led up to the fashion show, which did not disappoint!  The models walked an ivory runway lined with gold chivari chairs in the year's latest bridal fashions from Monique Lhullier to Vera Wang.  An array of couture bridal gowns, Mother-of-the-Bride attire and tuxedos for the groomsmen were on display during the fashion show.

While leaving the event, my Mother and I were certain that we found the vendors that would make my wedding day fabulous!  And what a treat to meet them all in one location!

BRIDE-TO-BRIDE INSIGHT:

Brides-to-be:  It would greatly benefit you to attend bridal shows.  I am not the kind of bride who purchases a ticket to every bridal show that comes to town.  Here's are some tips to assist you in making the most of your visits to bridal shows:

- Be selective:  Not all bridal shows are created equal.  Check out the vendors that will be in attendance at the shows that you are interested in before you purchase those tickets, ladies!  This will definitely help in keeping your head above water when sifting through vendors.

- Do your research:  Research the vendors that are listed to appear at the show. Become familiar with their work before meeting them at the show.  This will help in creating a relationship with the vendor should you chose to proceed in working with them on your wedding.

- Questions for your vendors:  This is where your trusty bridal notebook comes in handy!  Come armed with questions for the vendors that you are interested in.  Typically, there is not a lot of time that a vendor can devote to speaking with a bride-to-be on the showroom floor, but, girls, use the time you have wisely!  I actually contacted the vendors of whom I had extreme interest in via email prior to attending the show.  I told them that I would be at the show and would love to meet them personally.  This method worked perfectly!  The vendor knew who I was upon introducing myself and this gave me the foot in the door that I needed to steal them for about 5-10 minutes.  Vendors will appreciate the organization of the 'prepared bride' versus the panicked bride anyday!
